Our Story

PetFlow was founded in 2011 by two life-long pet lovers, Alex Zhardanovsky and Michael Landa. As pet owners themselves, they understood first-hand the inconvenience of lugging heavy bags of pet food home from the store and constantly running out at inopportune times. They envisioned a better way – an online destination where pet parents could easily stock up on all the necessities, delivered directly to their doors on a schedule.

After bootstrapping the initial startup costs themselves, Alex and Michael launched PetFlow out of Alex’s New Jersey garage. In the early days, it was just the two of them packing orders, managing inventory, and providing customer service. But they quickly realized they had tapped into an underserved market of pet parents who welcomed the convenience of home delivery for pet essentials like food, treats, toys and more.

Bolstered by enthusiastic customer response, Alex and Michael focused aggressively on scaling operations to meet demand. They brought key team members on board, expanded product selection, and ensured top-notch customer support every step of the way. Rescue Bank Partnership

Millions of pets end up in shelters each year simply because their owners cannot afford to feed them. To combat this crisis, we partner with Greater Good Charities’ Rescue Bank program to donate over 1 million pounds of food annually to shelters and rescues across the country. Ensuring at-risk pets have full bellies greatly improves adoption rates and reduces euthanasia.

Pets for Patriots

Pets for Patriots offers U.S. military veterans exclusive discounts on PetFlow services to make pet ownership affordable. We also fund the training of companion and service dogs for veterans coping with physical disabilities, PTSD, and other challenges. Supporting service members, past and present, with companion animal care is our way of giving back for the sacrifices they make protecting our country and our pets’ freedoms.

Pet Cancer Awareness Sponsorship

With over 6 million new pet cancer diagnoses yearly, early detection literally saves lives. As a founding sponsor of Pet Cancer Awareness Month every May, we promote free screening events across the nation to reduce cancer mortality rates. Funding cutting-edge research is equally important, which is why we also support the groundbreaking clinical trials happening at Animal Cancer Foundation hospitals.

Local Animal Shelters

Since PetFlow’s start, we have donated our time, products, and profits to animal rescues helping the homeless pet population in communities nationwide. Leadership Team

Alex Zhardanovsky, Co-Founder

Our fearless leader Alex keeps PetFlow true to its pet-loving roots even as the company evolves. With experience at major retailers like Staples and OfficeMax, he oversees collaborating with our suppliers, cultivating our company vision, and ensuring fast growth doesn’t compromise our quality standards. At home, Alex and his two kids are inseparable from their Golden Retriever Bella and tabby cat Oscar.

Michael Landa, Co-Founder

What started from humble beginnings in a garage is now Michael’s full-time passion. He infuses PetFlow with an entrepreneurial spirit daily, managing everything from marketing to our online infrastructure and logistics. Michael’s best friend growing up was his Labrador Jake, who inspired him to make life simpler for fellow pet owners. He now enjoys weekend adventures with his crazy terrier mix Lady.

Evelyn Molloy, Vice President, Supply Chain

Leading PetFlow’s inventory, transportation, and fulfillment operations takes both smarts and passion. Evelyn has an MBA along with 12 years in e-commerce and pet retail under her belt. When not overseeing efficient scaling so we can get customers their deliveries promptly, you’ll likely find her attempting agility courses with her lively Belgian Sheepdog, Luna.

Mark Johnson, Vice President, Marketing

Our growth over the past decade owes a lot to Mark’s strategic brand and performance marketing leadership. His data-driven focus allows PetFlow to connect customers with the right products at the right time. The lifelong animal lover somehow also finds time to volunteer training therapy dogs for veterans when he’s not hanging at home with Flynn, his charming English Bulldog.

Erica Gonzales, Customer Service Manager

Erica brings over 15 years of management experience running call centers and customer service teams for Fortune 500 companies. She now applies that expertise to lead PetFlow’s stellar Customer Happiness squad. Understanding both human and pet needs translates perfectly in her role. A passionate dog mom herself, Erica enjoys taking her senior rescue Chester everywhere he is welcome!

My crazy Springer Spaniel Zoey keeps me on my toes both at home and here at the PetFlow fulfillment center! I love that I get to handle awesome pet products daily. And it feels good knowing I’m helping other pet parents make their buddies happy too. I’ll often sneak the new tennis ball multipacks a test throw for quality assurance. You know, just doing my job!

Oh, and my days off are full of adventures with our three-legged rescue pup, Nacho! Don’t worry, I sneak him extra treats from my backpack after shift too. But shhh…don’t tell the boss!

As a vet tech, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when pets go without proper nutrition and healthcare. It breaks my heart! Working at PetFlow allows me to proactively help keep animals healthy by making sure loving owners get their essentials promptly. My mixed mutt Baby keeps life exciting too.
